Incorrect Language Leads to Thousands of Invalid Baptisms in Diocese of Phoenix | EWTN News Nightly

Parishioners of Saint Gregory in Phoenix, Arizona are reacting to Fr. Andres Arango's resignation, after it was discovered he was baptizing people incorrectly. The Diocese of Phoenix estimates that thousands of baptisms were affected by the incorrect language. Vice President for Theology at EWTN and Host of "Open Life Friday" on EWTN Radio, Colin Donovan, joins to talk more about the invalid baptisms. He breaks it down for us on why the language is so important and what the difference is between saying "we baptize you" and "I baptize you." Donovan shares whether there was a reason Fr. Arango did not follow the liturgical formula for baptism. The VP for theology at EWTN discusses how this affects the other sacraments people may have received while they were invalidly baptized. Donovan explains how the Church can move forward.
