The van conversion takes a huge leap forward with DIY custom kitchen cabinets this week.

It's amazing what an impact this has had on the look of our van and on our morale to push on in the build. We designed these poplar kitchen cabinets weeks ago, and despite having all the bits ready had to make some modifications after changing our mind on the design a bit - classic us really!
Heads up we did have to do a couple of bits to prepare for the install the kitchen units, and show this in really quick order in the video - there's always something to be done before you can do the thing you wanted to do.
It was also great to create a jig/router sled for the drawer bases - goodness knows if it was overkill but we reckon it was way simpler and more accurate that using the router in the traditional way. But let us know what you'd have done.
The cabinets are largely made from poplar plywood, as this is light in comparison to birch. We did birch for the drawer fronts and bottoms though. Oh and on other place in our Mercedes Vario.
