This video highlights Saltwater Fishing Tampa in the shipping channel of Tampa on the inside of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Fishing the edge of the shipping channel using my Garmin fish finder to locate structure and then using my Rhodan Spot anchor trolling motor to hold my position while I gear up to catch BIG Mangrove Snapper and Grouper.
It was a Beautiful Friday, April 15th.
On the way out to the shipping channel, I stopped and bought a scoop of greenbacks. Had a hard time netting them the last time I was out so I decided to buy some. It paid off!
Also picked up live shrimp from O’Neills Marina in St. Petersburg, FL.
To catch the BIG Mangroves, I used a 3/8 ounce chartreuse jig tipped with live shrimp and then switched to pinfish. My Shimano Saragosa Spinning reels and Shimano Terez Med-fast 20-50 fast action rod.
Mangroves were hitting everything I tossed down to the bottom. Sometimes it wouldn’t even hit bottom and they gobbled it up and my pole would get slammed!
The total time spent fishing was about 3 hours. The dolphins started coming around so I decided to head in.
What a Great Day Catching Giant Mangrove Snappers and the occasional Gag Grouper!
