India blames Ukraine war for record-high fuel prices

India’s government is blaming the war in Ukraine for petrol and diesel prices soaring to record highs.

Higher transport costs are causing other popular items to become much more expensive, too.

Prices in India were already some of the highest in the world relative to incomes.
