Snowstorm a likely boon for agriculture in drought-hit Manitoba

Ryan Truchelut, President and Chief Meteorologist at WeatherTiger, tells BNN Bloomberg this week’s snowstorm in Manitoba and the subsequent snowmelt will narrow soil moisture deficits ahead of the growing season. He says this could somewhat ease the supply crunch in wheat, hurt badly by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The snowstorm is expected to bring up to 2 feet of snow to parts of Manitoba, which is in the midst of a multi-year drought.
