PUTIN is hospitalized, a coup and political collapse is happening in Russia | Update on Russia and Ukraine war May 22.
VLADIMIR PUTIN could be pushed out of the position of leader of Russia as early as next year, a former MI6 leader said.
Putin, who has controlled Russia with an iron for more than two decades, engineered a constitutional change last year that would allow him to stay in office for life. But the 69-year-old has been mired in ill health, leading some to suggest that this could have been a huge motivating factor in his timing of the invasion of Ukraine.
And one - or even both - of these factors could mark his political downfall.
Speaking on the One Decision podcast, Sir Richard Dearlove, the head of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service when the Soviet Union collapsed, predicted Putin would soon leave the country to receive medical treatment.
"I think he will leave in 2023 - but maybe in a sanatorium, from there he will cede the position of leader of Russia.
"I'm not saying he won't leave the sanatorium, but he won't be the leader of Russia much longer. And that's one way to continue things without a coup."
Former spy Christopher Steele, who was active in Russia as an MI6 agent, said that "no political leadership" came from Putin. He told LBC: "We understand that there is more and more turmoil in the Kremlin and chaos. Militarily, the command structures and so on are not functioning as they should."
Putin, a former KGB colonel, once famous for his topless poses, his health is unstable, he has been visibly weakened in the past six weeks.
In March, the Sunday Express revealed that Pentagon analysts had concluded he had cancer after conducting a "forensic" examination of the photos and broadcasts spanning five years.
At the time, a Russian oligarch with close ties to the Kremlin revealed that Putin "has a very serious blood cancer."
And last week, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence service, Major General Kyrylo Budanov, announced a coup was underway.
Sir Richard's views are echoed by former NATO supreme allied commander in Europe, Admiral James Stavridis, who told the podcast: “If you want to steer the Russian ship, you have to do it with the table. Putin's hand. Putin's health may be the most decisive factor in the change in the course of the Russian ship." And that sign is showing very clearly, as PUTIN's health is getting worse and worse. Russia's offensive "repeatedly" has been defeated by Ukraine in recent times.
Professor Mark Galeotti, author of We Need to Talk About Putin, said that although the claims have not been officially confirmed, they represent a real, ongoing problem for the Kremlin.
"Given the state of his health and the Russian economy, he cannot afford to prolong the war, but the prospect of pain is approaching, as a protracted and balanced battle is unfolding in the region. Ukraine.
PUTIN is facing hundreds of thousands of disadvantages when his health is facing the "fear" of a protracted war.
