‘Very bad look’: LNP candidate Vivian Lobo referred to federal police

The Australian’s Sophie Elsworth says it’s a “very bad look” for the Liberal Party after LNP candidate Vivian Lobo was referred to the federal police over allegations he provided the Australian Electoral Commission with a false residential address.

It was revealed in The Australian that the candidate for Lilley gave the AEC the address of an abandoned, unfurnished home.

Making false declarations to the AEC is a criminal offence and it carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison or a $12,600 fine.

“It will be very bad for the Liberal Party if he’s found guilty of this offence,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“Liberal Party need every single seat they can get.”
