The Subaru Crosstrek is a tough subcompact crossover that is a hybrid of a hatchback and an SUV. For model year 2013, the car was introduced as the XV Crosstrek, and it was and still is essentially an Impreza hatchback with a lift kit and tough-looking body armor. For 2018, the current second-generation model went on sale. Given this timeline, the third-generation Crosstrek might be released in 2023.
We'll be keeping a close eye on the 2023 Crosstrek—Subaru can't mess with one of our favorite subcompact SUVs. We doubt it'll veer too far from the tried-and-true recipe, with a hatchback-like form factor and raised, trail-ready suspension.
