The lesson from Fowler is 'as clear as day': Chris Smith

Sky News host Chris Smith says the lesson from Fowler is “clear as day”, but not so clear “in the mind of the vanquished”.

He said former Labor candidate for Fowler Kristina Keneally has blamed her “collapse” on COVID-19 lockdowns.

Ms Keneally told The Sydney Morning Herald that "Fowler had the harshest lockdown in the state, supported by both Liberal and Labor, and there was an understandable sense of anger at both major parties, with people reacting with 'a pox on both your house''.

“What a complete load of codswallop," Mr Smith said.

"It was a pox on the Labor house only, because it had no respect for the migrant communities in the seat of Fowler," Mr Smith said.

"And arrogantly thought a wealthy, failed New South Wales premier who lived in the privileged Pittwater area, 45 kilometres away, would hold a suburban Labor stronghold.”
