Iran announced its first drone-carrying naval division on July 15, 2022, as US President Joe Biden made his first trip to the Middle East since taking office. The fleet includes vessels and submarines which will carry drones that can fly up to 1,000km (621 miles), according to state media. Days earlier, Washington alleged that Iran would provide Russia with up to hundreds of drones to use against Ukraine.
