Luke Rockhold is returning this weekend at UFC 278 vs Paulo Costa and Luke has been outspoken in the
airing out a lot of his grievances with the UFC because he doesn't fear any consequences and is just letting lose with this lips
and speaking his mind. One thing he was saying was the UFC only works with a few managers and that helps them gain control over fighters.
Former UFC fighter Nate Quarry expanded on this stating:
In the discovery of our UFC lawsuit we found emails from managers to the UFC brass saying their fighters will actually take
LESS money than offered all to gain favor with the UFC as a manager that is "easy" to work with.
"Beloved" managers.I can't wait for it to be public info.
In this scenario, the managers are more like employees for the UFC because their working against their client's interests and negotiatinog
against them to help out the UFC. The managers get a commission so they take a little hit but they make up for it in terms of volume because
now the UFC will repeatedly do business with them, so instead making a commission a couple times from fighters in the UFC, you may now get a
chance get a commission couple thousand times over the years.
Again under this scenario the manager is more like an undercover UFC employee disgusing himself as a manager.
On the oppositie end of the equation, if a manager is working really hard for his fighter to get what he feels they are worth, then they will be disparaged by Dana White.
And that happened with Francis Ngannou's manager, Marquel Martin, Dana stated about Ngannou:
His management is incompetent and hopefully Francis starts taking a look at new people to help his career.
