China is going through the mother of all real estate bubbles and it could lead them to total financial collapse. But the escalating situation in China is about much more than real estate and China’s economy does collapse, it could take the rest of the world with them. Not because of real estate, but because of Taiwan.
Taiwan exports over 60% of ALL microchips in the world. Even scarier, they export over 90% of the high-performance chips that go into everything from our cell phones and laptops to our satellites and fighter jets. The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, or TSM stock) makes the chips for tech giants like Nvidia (NVDA stock), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD stock), and Apple (AAPL stock), just to name a few.
I’ve covered the importance of these chip makers in the past and the risks of virtually all of them being in Taiwan, which is prone to earthquakes, monsoons, and other natural disasters. But I stayed silent on the biggest risk of all, which is China deciding to take Taiwan and stop them from exporting the technologies we all depend on.
But now, this has become a developing story that everyone needs to know about. Let me show you why this situation in China could impact us way more than we realize, starting with what’s at stake: the world’s semiconductors.
