Men were hooked up to an electronic device that induces pain similar to what women feel during menstruation during the annual Calgary Stampede rodeo and exhibition in the Canadian province of Alberta in July 2022. Organised by Vancouver-based company Somedays, the simulations were meant to tackle social stigmas and open up conversations related to menstruation and medical conditions such as endometriosis which can worsen period cramping.
