Want to build MUSCLE? Then STOP doing THIS.

So when I said don’t increase the weight during your sets, I meant that you should always start with your heaviest weight first, after your necessary warm up sets. I didn’t mean you should never increase the weight at all, as that simply does not make sense, you just shouldn’t be doing it after your sets. For example, if you can rep out the 100s on bench press, don’t do 2 sets with the 80s and 90s beforehand, as all that’s gonna do is limit your performance since you could’ve gone heavier to begin with. Not to mention, as you perform more sets, your muscles build up more fatigue, and the more fatigue present in a muscle, the less force its fibers can produce. So trying to increase the weight set after set as your muscles inevitably get weaker is just counterintuitive and unproductive. So in that case, always start with your heaviest weight first when your muscles have the lowest amount of fatigue and the greatest ability to produce force. Then for your next few sets, either drop the weight and do more reps, or keep the weight the same and expect your reps to decrease.
