British-born American actress and singer, Angela Lansbury, died in her sleep, at her home, on October 11, at age 96. Her career spanned 8 decades. She gained worldwide acclaim and millions of fans from her role, as Jessica Fletcher, in the long-running TV series, Murder, She Wrote. She took up the role in 1984, and continued for 12 years. This role made her one of the richest women in the world. Her fortune was estimated at about $100 million.
Lansbury has won six Golden Globes, five Tony Awards for her performances on Broadway, and was nominated for three Academy Awards, eighteen Primetime Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award.
She was given an honorary Oscar in 2013, for lifetime achievement in the business.
