Western Kentucky QB wisely avoids spiking the ball with under 3 seconds left

During the college football game between South Alabama and Western Kentucky, Western Kentucky quarterback Austin Reed made a smart play when he avoided spiking the ball because he realized the clock was under three seconds. In college football, spiking the ball with under three seconds left is a penalty and if he had done it the half would have ended. Instead, Reed dropped back and threw a pass into the back of the end zone that drew a pass interference penalty. Western Kentucky then got one untimed down from the one yard line and scored a touchdown on the last play of the half.
