Your Cleveland weather forecast brought to you by 3News Meteorologist Matt Wintz!
Winds continue to howl as a dynamic system pulls northward littering the continental United States with alerts and advisories ranging from wind chill warnings, to high wind warnings, to flood warnings, to blizzard warnings, and even at one point Wednesday afternoon a severe thunderstorm warning.
Why is this happening? A trough continues to dig far south in the mountain west with significant snow and blizzard conditions expected. A ridge of warmth continues to repeat east of the Mississippi. So far in 2023, our region has experienced almost weekly 40s and 50s with average daytime high temperatures still normalized in the mid to upper 30s range.
The most potent weather is expected to remain north; however, moderate to heavy rain is possible later tonight into the morning tomorrow. A dramatic drop of temperatures are expected Thursday afternoon into the evening with the passage of a strong cold front. Daytime highs through Friday will remain in the upper 20s to near 30 but with variable sunshine. The 3News weather team will continue to monitor the situation.
